WATER WELL PROJECT 2024: Transforming Lives through Education and Clean Water

Education Gauge for Growth Tanzania (EGG Tanzania), in collaboration with Deniz Feneri, a non-governmental organization based in Istanbul, Türkiye, has launched a transformative initiative to improve access to clean water in Kilosa District, Morogoro. The project involves the installation of 40 water wells, with a total of 100 planned for the region, targeting communities in Kimamba A, Kimamba B, and Madoto wards, where the Maasai and other residents face water shortages.

This initiative directly addresses Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 and 6, which focus on ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting clean water and sanitation for all. Before the wells were drilled, students often struggled to attend school on time due to the long distances they had to walk to fetch water. This situation led to frequent absenteeism, negatively impacting their education and overall well-being.

By providing easily accessible water, the project will allow students to focus on their studies, attend school regularly, and improve their academic performance. In addition to supporting education, the water wells will enhance the general population’s access to clean water, reducing the distance they need to travel for daily household needs, thereby improving health, hygiene, and productivity.

This water project also fosters community cooperation and socioeconomic development by providing a reliable water supply that supports small-scale agriculture and daily activities. The long-term impact will create opportunities for better education and a healthier future, making this initiative a cornerstone of sustainable development for the Kilosa District.

Through this partnership, EGG Tanzania and Deniz Feneri are not only providing a vital resource but also building a foundation for long-term progress in the region, ensuring that future generations benefit from the clean water that supports both education and community growth.
